Hello! My name is Spencer and I’m a millennial blogger (is there any other kind?). Thanks so much for visiting my little corner of the Internet!

I have incurable wanderlust, which has resulted in me spending a great deal of my adult life roaming foreign cities. I headed abroad two months after finishing high school and have spent the twenty years since seeing as much of the world as I can.

Between 2010 and 2016 the space slowly morphed into a hybrid of travel and mental health talk, but in 2026 it’s entering it’s new era: Being Alive. A celebration of life and living to the fullest. A journey to find peace. A quest for a regulated nervous system!

I somehow managed to get through university, struggling with anxiety, depression and undiagnosed ADHD. I did my undergrad in Political Science and my postgrad in International Development. I am passionate about human rights work, and had been working in the sector since graduating up until 2021.

Life changed in the blink of an eye in 2021, when on the evening of December 30th, I experienced a massive hemorrhagic stroke (ruptured brain aneurysm) that changed my life forever. I lost my mobility, my independence, my career, and any sense of normalcy. The Being Alive Era is about documenting the recovery journey for the purpose of providing hope to other stroke survivors.

I’m also a TV and musical theatre junkie. Details of my various fangirl escapades can be read on ‘The Office’ drop down menu up top, and just about every post in the ‘New York City’ category.
